Wicked Wrench Co. is looking for automotive technicians/mechanics to join our shop in South Elgin.
We’re a busy independent repair shop focused on late-model vehicles, diagnostics, maintenance and everyday automotive repair.
We’re looking for someone who can work, think, communicate, and be part of a shop where the goal is to diagnose the problem—not just throw parts at it.

WHAT YOU’LL BE WORKING ON
Our shop handles a wide range of late-model automotive repair, including:
Brakes
Steering & suspension
Check-engine-light diagnostics
Electrical diagnosis
A/C and heating
Cooling systems
Batteries, starters & alternators
Maintenance
Engine and drivability concerns
Wheel bearings, CV axles, belts, tensioners and more
We do not work on vintage vehicles.
We primarily service domestic and Asian vehicles. European vehicles are limited to brake service and oil changes.
WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR
You don’t need to know absolutely everything.
You do need to be willing to think, test and figure things out.
We’re looking for someone who:
Has automotive repair experience
Can perform common mechanical repairs independently
Understands that a trouble code is a clue—not automatically a diagnosis
Can follow diagnostic procedures
Takes pride in their work
Keeps their work area reasonably organized
Communicates when they need help
Can work as part of a team
Shows up when they’re supposed to
Treats customers’ vehicles with respect
DIAGNOSTIC EXPERIENCE IS A BIG PLUS.
WHAT WE’RE NOT LOOKING FOR
We’re probably not the right shop if you:
Prefer guessing instead of testing
Don’t want to diagnose problems
Leave unfinished work for everyone else
Treat every car like a parts cannon
Need constant supervision to complete basic repairs
Need 4-5 times the amount of book time allowed per job

PAY & POSITION
AUTOMOTIVE TECHNICIAN / MECHANIC
Full-time
Monday–Friday
Compensation based on experience, skill level and diagnostic ability. Must have a valid Illinois drivers license.
Entry/Developing Tech: $22-$26 per hour
Solid General Repair Tech: $28-34 per hour
Strong Diagnostic/Experienced Tech: $35-$42 per hour
